On Tuesday, 2 June, 2026, Michelle Paulene Abeyta, a Navajo woman, a mother of four, and a former environmental lawyer from Tohajiilee, won election to again be the Democratic nominee to run in November for New Mexico House District 69.
Statement by Earthworks Action Fund State Political Director Andrew Forkes-Gudmundson:
“Hard work and a commitment to fight for fairness and to protect public health pays off. Representative MIchelle Paulene Abeyta has delivered for the people of District 69 and will deliver again.
“Hard earned tax dollars should go to better communities, schools and roadways instead of cleaning up the oil and gas industry’s mess. The people of New Mexico should always come first.
