Earthworks Action Fund today endorsed Emma Pinter for Adams County Commissioner. In another first for the Fund, it launched an ad and field campaign in support of Ms. Pinter. Earthworks Action Fund is the new political affiliate of the national environmental nonprofit Earthworks, whose energy program was founded in Durango as the Oil & Gas Accountability Project in 1999.
“Earthworks Action Fund is proud to endorse and support Emma Pinter for Adams County Commissioner,” said Earthworks Action Fund’s Political Director Lauren Pagel. She continued, “She knows that a clean environment is critical for Colorado’s health, safety, and way of life. And her work as Westminster City Councillor shows she knows that a clean energy future is necessary to protect our clean air and water.”
In support of Emma Pinter, Earthworks Action Fund has initiated an independent expenditure ad and field campaign to reach out and engage 16,000 voters who live near current or planned oil and gas wells in Adams County. Commissioner races in Adams County are some of the closest, with one race outcome in 2016 being determined by just 600 votes.
“Adams County voters need to know how, why, and where the oil and gas industry threatens their health and safety, and what they can do about it,” said Pagel. She continued, “With this outreach campaign, we hope to show that voting for Emma Pinter will benefit all Adams County with her strong leadership and her support of policies that strike the right balance between protecting our neighborhoods and oil and gas production.”
As Councillor, Emma has worked to make the city of Westminster become more sustainable, playing an essential role in making it Colorado’s first Platinum Solar City. She has helped the city update its energy standards in its own buildings, and in its urban planning across the city.
“Emma is a thoughtful and passionate advocate for the long-term health and sustainability of our community. While on council together she has supported, promoted and implemented policies that promote environmental stewardship, and social and economic sustainability. She cares about our communities’ health and environment,” said Anita Seitz, Westminster City Councillor.
