Earthworks Action Fund celebrates election of Emma Pinter, defeat of Amendment 74; laments defeat of Proposition 112
Statement of Earthworks Action Fund Political Director Lauren Pagel
Nov 7 – “Earthworks Action Fund congratulates Adams County Commissioner Emma Pinter on her win. Adams County voters have chosen a proven leader who puts communities first. We look forward to working with her to protect the health of Adams County families from the destructive impacts of oil and gas development in the coming years.
Today’s defeat of Amendment 74 is a victory for the environment, public health, and pocketbooks of all Coloradans. This vote is also a rejection of out-of-state polluting interests forcing Colorado communities to pay the oil and gas industry to pollute us less. By defeating Amendment 74, Colorado voters choose to protect air quality and property values despite millions spent by the oil and gas industry.
The defeat of Amendment 112 is a loss for Colorado families, clean air, and health. Our optical gas imaging cameras make visible normally invisible oil and gas air pollution, so we regularly see Colorado communities being polluted by drilling and fracking. Coloradans shouldn’t have to worry about their health and safety when the oil and gas industry comes to their community. But they do.”
